Energy chains for horizontal energy supply

Guide cables horizontally and save costs

When media, energy and data have to be moved horizontally over long travels, the energy supply system has to comply with some exacting requirements.  Especially for long travel applications on machine tools when the e-chain has to glide on a surface, chips and dirt are a problem.  In outdoor installations, it is the weather or the large amount of dirt that the horizontal energy supply systems have to withstand. In the case of especially small installation spaces, a compact type of construction is called for. With its solutions for horizontal energy supply, igus can provide a solution that satisfies every possible requirement.

Solutions for horizontal motion

guidelok horizontal system

Energy chains for horizontal energy supply

For the chip area

  • Unsupported
  • No settling of chips
  • Modular system with few parts
  • More cost-effective than many steel chains
  • Open trough systems possible
  • Chips can fall through

micro flizz

Compact horizontal energy supply system

Maintenance-free alternative to busbar system

  • Chain is guided safely in special groove
  • Control option via stationary switch cabinet
  • Acceleration up to 50m/s²
  • Working speed up to 6m/s
  • Data rates up to 10Gbit/s
  • Small space requirement

Service life monitoring for all e-chains

  • New sensors allow measurement of percentage bolt/hole connection abrasion levels
  • Cost reduction through clear measurement of the service life of the product –  avoidance of an early replacement of the e-chain system®
  • Output of service life information and warnings via HMI systems or the local network
  • Transmission of sensor and dynamic data via a newly developed LoRa module
Integrated service life monitoring with smart plastics

Horizontal energy supply system for extremely long travels

Horizontal travels of more than 1,000 metres

igus energy chains show their great strengths in the case of extreme lengths

  • Long travels of 1,000 metres and more
  • Parallel guidance of all cables and hoses
  • No unnecessary interfaces
  • Fill weights of up to 100 kg/m
  • Low travel noise
  • High energy efficiency in the case of rolling energy chains
  • Service life of ten years and more with energy chains and cables
  • Robust in all applications such as those involving exposure to wind, weather, dirt, chemicals and bulk materials
  • Quick installation and retrofitting of cables and hoses
